Police in Virginia say they have arrested a man, a woman and a young girl for posting online a fake rape threat.
Officers from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office were called to a house in the town of Easley on Wednesday after receiving a report of a man allegedly harassing women in the area.
Authorities said the woman reported she was approached by a man who said he was going to rape her and that the man then punched her in the face.
Authorities arrested the woman, 18, on suspicion of making a false report to police, according to the sheriff’s office.
The man has been charged with second-degree criminal mischief, intimidation and threatening to commit a crime.
The 17-year-old woman was also charged with threatening a witness to commit an act of terrorism, according the sheriff.
They are both in the Washington, D.C., area.
